The omelets and pancakes Dotty's Cafe was known for will temporarily return once again when the Hartsburg business reopens next year.

After closing in summer 2018, Dotty's Cafe will reopen Jan. 1 on Main Street in Hartsburg, owner Dotty Manns said. The restaurant will remain open until she sells the building.

"I just don't want it to sit there empty while it's for sale, and since I still feel good, I might as well be there for our people," she said. "They've been loyal to me for 15 years, and I would like to give back to them how I can while I'm still able."

She said she is unsure how long it will be until she sells the building.

Dotty's Cafe will serve breakfast from 7 a.m.-noon Saturdays and Sundays.

Manns sold the business to Jim and Cindy Nilges in July 2018, who transformed it into 35th on Main. However, 35th on Main will close at the end of December, Manns said.

Community members threw Manns a retirement party after she closed the cafe. Manns joked customers do not need to throw her another retirement party.

"The other one will last me forever," she said with a laugh.
