The Lincoln Blue Tigers qualified five individual entries and two relays for the NCAA Division II indoor track and field national championships, which will be held March 8-9 at Pittsburg State’s Robert W. Plaster Center.

The national qualifiers for each of the 34 events -- 17 for the men and 17 for the women -- were announced Tuesday night by the NCAA.

The Lincoln women’s 4x400-meter relay of Shoneal Clarke-Giddings, Shantae George, Odeshia Nanton and Shevanae Thomas qualified for nationals with a time of 3:11.01 during the Crimson & Gold Invitational on Dec. 9 at Pittsburg State. They are the No. 3 seed in the event, behind Academy of Art (3:10.53) and St. Augustine’s (3:10.68).

The women’s 4x400 relay is a finals-only event that begins at 8 p.m. on Day 2, the final event of the national championships.

The men’s 4x400 relay is also a finals-only event and is the penultimate event of the national championships, scheduled to start at 7:45 p.m. on Day 2.

On the men’s side, Lincoln’s remaining national qualifiers are Francis and Nichols, both in the 400-meter dash. Nichols is the No. 5 seed with a time of 47.29 seconds and Francis is the No. 6 seed with a time of 47.34 seconds. Both runners posted their qualifying times at the Crimson & Gold Invitational.

For the Lincoln women, George is a national qualifier in three events. In addition to the 4x400 relay, she is the No. 6 seed in the 60-meter dash and the No. 20 seed in the 200-meter dash.

George posted her qualifying times of 7.37 seconds in the 60 and 24.13 seconds in the 200 at the MIAA championships.
