Absentee balloting for April 2 vote begins Tuesday

With the April 2 municipal election only a month and a half away, there are several important dates the Cole County Clerk's Office wants voters to know.

The deadline to register to vote for the election is 5 p.m. March 6. Residents who aren't properly registered at their current address can update their address online or in the office at 311 E. High St.

The clerk's office is open from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Absentee voting will begin Tuesday. For those wishing to vote absentee in person at the clerk's office, the last day to cast a ballot is April 1 -- the day before the election.

Voters who want to apply for an absentee ballot for themselves or a family member should do so as soon as possible.

For those mailing in their ballots, ballots must be put in the mail by 5 p.m. March 20 to ensure they reach the clerk's office by 7 p.m. on Election Day.

More updates on election deadlines will come in early, mid- and late March. Election information is also available on the Cole County Clerk's website at https://colecounty.org/217/County-Clerk.
