COLUMBIA -- The Mid-Missouri HomeSchool Mavericks took fifth place with a 2-1 record in the Missouri State HomeSchool Basketball Championship, which was held Friday and Saturday at Columbia Sports Fieldhouse.
The Mavericks opened the eight-team tournament with a 61-44 loss in the first round to the Kansas City Metro Mavericks.
Mid-Missouri HomeSchool bounced back with a 63-30 victory against the St. Louis Blue Knights-Tucker in Friday night’s loser’s bracket semifinal.
In Saturday’s fifth-place game, the Mavericks defeated the Lighthouse Christian Chargers 74-52.
Springfield Rush won the state tournament, beating the St. Louis Blue Knights-Linneman 52-40 in the title game.
Kansas City Metro won 74-64 against the Kansas City East Lions in the third-place game, while the St. Louis Patriots beat the St. Louis Blue Knights-Tucker 88-55 in the seventh place game.
Four teams from the state tournament are ranked in the top 20 in the NCHBC national rankings.
The St. Louis Blue Knights-Linneman are No. 10, Mid-Missouri HomeSchool is No. 12, Kansas City Metro is No. 16 and Springfield Rush is No. 17 in the rankings.
Mid-Missouri HomeSchool (23-4) hosts Sunnydale Academy tonight in Holts Summit.
