Dembele gets triple-double in Missouri’s loss to Auburn

COLUMBIA -- Mama Dembele recorded the first triple-double Sunday for the Missouri women since 2011, but the Tigers dropped a 70-59 decision to Auburn in Southeastern Conference action at Mizzou Arena.

Dembele finished with 15 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists. Christine Flores had a triple-double Dec. 7, 2011, for Missouri in a game against Eastern Illinois.

Auburn scored the first nine points of the game Sunday on its way to a 16-8 lead after the first quarter. The visitors stretched their advantage to as many as 15 points in the second quarter and took a 33-21 lead into halftime.

Missouri’s offense came alive in the third quarter and a 3-pointer by Abbey Schreacke with a little more than a minute remaining pulled the Tigers into a tie at 48.

But Auburn scored the final five points of the quarter and took a 53-48 lead into the final 10 minutes. Auburn then totaled the first 10 points of the fourth quarter to stretch its advantage to 63-48.

Missouri got no closer than 11 points the rest of the game.

Honesty Scott-Grayson led Auburn (15-8 overall, 4-6 SEC) with 24 points. JaMya Mingo-Young added 10.

Ashton Judd finished with 14 points and eight rebounds for Missouri, while Grace Slaughter added 12 points and Schreacke chipped in with 11.

Missouri (11-3, 2-9 SEC) is off until next Sunday’s game at Arkansas. Game time is 3 p.m.
