Girls Basketball: Linn 41, St. Elizabeth 37

LINN -- The St. Elizabeth Lady Hornets suffered their first loss in Show-Me Conference play Friday night, as the Linn Lady Wildcats used a big third quarter to rally for a 41-37 win.

St. Elizabeth, Fatima and Russellville each have one loss in conference play with one week to go in their regular seasons. Russellville plays Monday at Fatima, with the winner clinching at least a share of the conference title, and St. Elizabeth has two conference road games this week against Eugene and Tuscumbia, needing to win both to share the Show-Me championship.

The score was tied at 4 after one quarter, as each team made one field goal and two free throws. Charli Duemmel knocked down a pair of 3-pointers in the second quarter to give the Lady Hornets a 16-14 advantage at halftime.

Linn outscored St. Elizabeth 15-8 in the third quarter to lead 29-24 with eight minutes to play. The Lady Wildcats never trailed in the fourth quarter, leading by as many as seven points with 2:30 to play and again with :08.6 on the clock. Dani Heckemeyer made a 3 with :02.1 to go to make the final margin four points.

Hannah Hackmann led a balanced scoring attack for the Lady Wildcats with 12 points, followed by Vivien Baker with eight points.

Reagan Wobbe scored a game-high 16 points for the Lady Hornets. Heckemeyer and Duemmel added nine and eight points, respectively.

Linn (13-10, 3-2 Show-Me), which clinched a winning record with the victory, wraps up its regular season with a home game Tuesday against Tuscumbia.

St. Elizabeth (17-7, 3-1 Show-Me) plays Tuesday at Eugene.
