Prep Baseball: St. Elizabeth places third in Vienna Tournament

VIENNA -- The St. Elizabeth Hornets finished 2-1 to take third this weekend in the Vienna Tournament.

St. Elizabeth opened play Friday with a 5-0 victory against Vienna. Brady Kemna pitched 5⅔ innings to get the win, allowing one hit and five walks while recording 11 strikeouts. Blake Wobbe pitched the final 1⅓ innings, giving up one hit and striking out one.

Gavin Williams, Carter Otto and Sam Luetkemeyer all had two hits for the Hornets. One of Luetkemeyer’s hits was a two-run double.

On Saturday, St. Elizabeth fell 5-0 to Iberia.

Williams took the loss, working five innings. He allowed four runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out one.

The Hornets had two hits -- doubles by Wobbe and Williams.

In the third-place game, St. Elizabeth defeated Bourbon 4-0 in a game shortened by lightning.

St. Elizabeth (11-3) will play Tuesday at Bunceton/Prairie Home.
