ELDON -- Eight Capital City players had at least one hit Monday, as the Lady Cavaliers powered their way to a 15-0 win in six innings against the Eldon Lady Mustangs.
Capital City scored five runs in the second inning to build a 6-0 advantage. The Lady Cavaliers then scored eight runs in the sixth inning to win by run rule.
Five of Capital City’s 16 hits were doubles. Faith Karr had a bases-clearing double in the sixth inning, finishing 3-for-4 with two doubles and four RBI.
Emma Stieferman went 3-for-4 with a double and two RBI, while Danijah Fluellen and Annie Spratt each had two hits, including a double. McKenna Schwarzer hit three singles and Spratt drove in a pair of runs.
Macy Dudenhoeffer was the winning pitcher for the Lady Cavaliers. In six shutout innings, she allowed four hits and no walks while striking out six.
Rylan Stark had two hits for Eldon, both singles.
Mckenzi Ward struck out seven batters and walked six in six innings for the Lady Mustangs.
Capital City (6-8) plays Wednesday at Class 2 No. 3 Bowling Green.
Eldon (1-14), which won Monday’s JV game 6-4, plays today at Sedalia Smith-Cotton.
