Fire damaged a Jefferson City home early Monday morning.

The city fire department reports its personnel responded at 1:41 a.m. to a report of a structure fire in the 1100 block of West Miller Street. Fire crews arrived to find heavy fire involvement on the front of a single family home.

Firefighters extinguished the blaze, but the structure sustained heavy fire damage throughout.

The fire department and Missouri State Fire Marshal's Office are investigating the cause of the fire.

The department reports two adults were displaced by the fire and are being assisted by the American Red Cross. Two pets perished in the incident.

Three Jefferson City engine companies, two squad companies, one ladder company, two chief officers, and the department chaplain -- for a total of 22 personnel -- responded to the incident. Cole County EMS sent an ambulance and chief officer to the scene. The Holts Summit Fire Protection District also assisted by sending an engine company.
