SUNRISE BEACH -- The Lincoln Blue Tigers opened their fall season with a ninth-place finish in their home tournament, the Lincoln Invitational, at The Club at Porto Cima.
Lincoln posted a three-round total of 911 in the two-day event. Missouri Southern won with an 881, one stroke ahead of Central Oklahoma.
Henry Mwanza led the Blue Tigers, tying for fourth place out of 78 golfers by shooting a 217. Mwanza wrapped up the tournament with a 71 in the third round.
Darshan Gunasegar took 17th place for Lincoln with a 223, carding a 69 in the final round.
Also competing for the Blue Tigers were Austin Showmaker (232), Capital City graduate Blake Meredith (243) and Dedrick Harris II (247). Competing as individuals were Nico Tover (242) and Logan Prock (257).
Central Missouri’s Robbie Sager won the individual title with a 213, opening the tournament with a 67 in the first round.
Helias graduate Alex Gentry (Helias High School) tied for 12th place with a 221, shooting a 68 in the final round.
Lincoln plays Oct. 2-3 in the Cougar Classic at Columbia Country Club.
