NIXA — The Helias Crusaders took third as a team in the Class 4 District 2 meet in Nixa with 141 points on Saturday to earn a team spot at the state race. Helias was behind West Plains’ 38 for first and Bolivar’s 78 for second, while Carl Junction also made the state meet as a team scoring 170 points for fourth.
Ian Benne led the Crusaders with a time of 16:27.88 for a seventh-place finish, while Daniel Morris took 21st in 16:54.76. Close behind was Mason Voegeli in 26th with a time of 17:02.04, Ryan Beul took 34th in 17:37.53 and Chris Rau rounded out Helias’ counting times with an 18:28.59 for 53rd.
Julian Schmidt ran a time of 18:48.73 for 67th and Greg Cizin finished 85th in 19:25.91.
Helias will run at 11:15 a.m. Saturday at Gans Creek Cross Country Course in Columbia.
