The Jefferson City Lady Jays rallied for three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning Monday, walking off a 3-2 Central Missouri Activities Conference victory against Sedalia Smith-Cotton at Jefferson City High School.
Down 2-0 entering the bottom of the seventh, Finley Walker opened the inning with a leadoff triple. She scored on Lyndsie Albright’s single to center field, cutting the Lady Jays’ deficit in half.
Two batters later, Elliot O’Donnell singled, then Allison Carwile drew a two-out walk to load the bases.
Jaela Nickerson followed with a single to center field, scoring Albright as the tying run and O’Donnell as the winning run.
Four of Jefferson City’s eight hits came in the seventh inning. Smith-Cotton pitcher Addison Snyder started the game with six shutout innings.
The Tigers broke a scoreless tie with two runs in the top of the fifth.
Walker led the Lady Jay offense with a double and a triple, while Kaylee Redcay had a single and a double and Nickerson finished with two singles.
Summer Branch pitched all seven innings for Jefferson City. She gave up two runs on six hits with no walks and six strikeouts.
Jefferson City (16-11) wraps up CMAC play with a 4-2 record. The Lady Jays hosts Class 3 No. 9 Southern Boone at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.
