Jefferson City man charged with assault

A Jefferson City man faces assault charges after a weekend incident.

Jasiel Hidalgo-Zaragoza was charged with third-degree domestic assault and second-degree child endangerment.

A Jefferson City Police Department probable cause statement said authorities contacted a woman Sunday evening with swelling to her face and bruises on her arm and around her eye.

The woman said Hidalgo-Zaragoza struck her in the face during an argument at her residence, and that her teenage daughter witnessed the attack. The daughter told police she had heard yelling and saw her mother being pushed into the TV, after which she tried to break up the attack.

Hidalgo-Zaragoza allegedly refused police access to his home and tried to retreat away from them, but was placed in handcuffs. He reportedly denied anything happened between himself and the woman.
