The Jefferson City Police Department (JCPD) seized hundreds of fentanyl pills, thousands of dollars in cash and a stolen weapon during a traffic stop Thursday evening.
Around 6:30 p.m., detectives and members of the JCPD Community Action Team stopped a vehicle on Industrial Drive near West McCarty Street, according to a JCPD news release.
One of the passengers was allegedly in possession of 900 M30 Fentanyl pills. As law enforcement investigated the vehicle and its occupants further, the release said, a Glock 22 reported stolen in St. Louis and crushed fentanyl pills were found in a backpack belonging to the second passenger in the vehicle.
The passenger allegedly in possession of 900 pills was a 21-year-old Jefferson City man. He's in custody at the Cole County Jail facing charges of first-degree drug trafficking. He was also on bail for another narcotics offense at the time of arrest, the release said.
The second passenger was a 22-year-old Jefferson City man and is also in custody at the Cole County Jail. He faces charges of possession of a stolen firearm, possession of a firearm by a felon and first-degree drug trafficking. He was also on parole for previous first-degree robbery and assault convictions.
The release said roughly $8,200 in cash was seized from the two men during the stop and the street value of the seized fentanyl pills is estimated at more than $9,000.
