ASH GROVE -- The Ash Grove Pirates continued their undefeated season Wednesday with a 10-5 victory against the Iberia Rangers in the Class 2 state quarterfinals.

Iberia, ranked No. 3 in Class 2 by the Missouri High School Baseball Coaches Association, finishes the season with a 24-5 record.

Top-ranked Ash Grove (23-0), the only undefeated team remaining in Missouri, advances to play unranked Maysville in the state semifinals at 7 p.m. Monday at Sky Bacon Stadium in Ozark.

Ash Grove led 3-2 through four innings Wednesday, then plated three runs in each of the fifth and sixth innings to pull away to victory.

Iberia plated three runs in the bottom of the sixth and became only the fifth team this spring to score five or more runs in a single game against Ash Grove.

Tanner Patterson finished the game with nine strikeouts and three walks in four innings pitched for the Rangers.

Hunter Piggott had two of Iberia’s eight hits, which were all singles.

Bryce Davis, Jonathon Rollhaus and Nate Trammell each had three RBI for Ash Grove. Davis was also the winning pitcher, striking out five and walking two in 5⅔ innings.
