Jefferson City man charged with vehicle tampering

A Jefferson City man faces a vehicle tampering charge after allegedly stealing a car and driving to Sedalia.

Jordan Willis, 25, was charged with fourth-degree vehicle tampering. A Jefferson City Police Department probable cause statement states authorities were dispatched to the 200 block of Dunford Street to respond to reports of a stolen vehicle. There, they reportedly met a witness who said he had picked up Willis, who kept asking to be driven to Sedalia or Warrensburg. The witness said he had gone inside his residence for a while and left the keys in his car. When he returned, the car was gone.

The witness received a call from a Sedalia business while talking with police and was informed Willis had told them he had the vehicle after coming in to place a call. Pettis County authorities took Willis in without incident, according to the statement.
