Firefighters at heightened risk for 17 cancers; local crews now qualify for national support program

Firefighters are more at risk of developing 17 cancers due to the nature of the job.

Making up that list of occupational cancers are bladder, brain, breast, colon, esophagus, kidney, lung, melanoma, mesothelioma, multiple myeloma, NHL, prostate, rectal, skin, stomach, testicular and thyroid.
