Cole County crashes result in children injuries

Two children each suffered minor injuries Monday afternoon in a rear-end collision on Missouri 17 in Cole County.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report, Emilee A. Loveall, 24, of Eugene, was northbound about 12:50 p.m. in a GMC Yukon on the highway when she stopped to yield for another vehicle in the road. A Ford pickup driven by Patrick N. Kempker, 42, of Eugene, struck the rear of the Yukon.

Loveall, who was wearing a seat belt, was uninjured in the incident.

Two children in the Yukon -- a 1-year-old boy and a 5-year-old girl -- each was properly restrained, but suffered minor injuries. They were taken by private vehicle to St. Mary's Hospital in Jefferson City for treatment.

Kempker, who was not wearing a seat belt, was uninjured.

A Jefferson City teenager suffered moderate injuries Monday night in a single-vehicle crash in St. Martins.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report, the 16-year-old Jefferson City driver of a Chevrolet Cobalt stopped on Churchview Drive about 9:52 p.m., but didn't place her vehicle in park. The car began rolling and went off the right side of the road and hit a tree.

The driver, who was not wearing a seat belt, was taken by private vehicle to Capital Region Medical Center for treatment.
