HARTSBURG -- The Blair Oaks Falcons claimed their second district championship in three seasons, finishing atop the team leaderboard Monday in the Class 3 District 2 Tournament at Eagle Knoll Golf Course.

Blair Oaks had four golfers finish in the top 20 of the individual standings, paving the way to a team score of 319. Hallsville was the district runner-up with a 325 and Father Tolton -- the defending state champion -- took third place with a 327.

The top two teams in each district automatically qualify their top four golfers from the district tournament for the Class 3 state championships, which will be held next Monday and Tuesday at Meadow Lake Acres Country Club in New Bloomfield.

Sam Kliethermes led the Falcons with a 4-over 76, tying St. Charles West’s Ian Hollander for third place out of 73 district golfers.

Dylan Bryan shot a 6-over 78 to finish in a three-way tie for seventh place, while Ryan Glavin placed 10th with an 8-over 80 to earn all-district honors.

Chase Distler will be the Falcons’ fourth state qualifier, tying for 19th place with a 13-over 85.

Blair Oaks’ Michael Atnip tied for 25th place with an 88, missing the cut line for the state tournament by four strokes.

Blair Oaks and Hallsville will be two of the eight teams -- joined by Bishop LeBlond, Barstow, Eldon, Lockwood, Logan-Rogersville and McAuley Catholic -- competing for a state title next week.

The Falcons will be going for their third straight state trophy. Blair Oaks finished fourth in Class 3 last season and placed third in 2021.

The Southern Boone Eagles finished fifth on their home course with a 338 and qualified three individuals for the state tournament.

Levi Baumgartner, Trenton Hargis and Noah Wilde finished right on the cut line, each shooting a 12-over 84 for the Eagles.

Blake Nichols rounded out Southern Boone’s team score with an 86 and Will Hilgedick finished with a 91.

The Fatima Comets were 11th in the team standings with a 394.

Simon Stuecken led the Comets with a 92 to tie for 36th place. Cooper Kleffner was next for Fatima with a 99, followed by Dawson Rademan (101), Nate Brandt (102) and Tyler Fortson (102).

Tolton’s Garrett McIntosh was the individual district champion with a 1-over 73, edging Hallsville’s Logan Cox by a stroke.
