Prep Baseball: Willard 10, St. Elizabeth 0

WILLARD -- The Willard Tigers plated seven runs in the first inning Tuesday against the St. Elizabeth Hornets and picked up a 10-0 run-rule victory in five innings.

Gavin Williams pitched the first three-plus innings for the Hornets and struck out five batters while allowing nine runs on five hits and four walks.

Nick Heckemeyer threw the final 1⅓ innings and allowed one run on three hits and a walk with one strikeout.

Noah Chipman finished 1-for-1 at the plate with a walk and Caleb Oligschlaeger went 1-for-2 to account for St. Elizabeth’s two hits.

The contest was originally scheduled as a home game for the Hornets but weather pushed the game to Willard.

St. Elizabeth (0-2), ranked No. 1 in Class 1, will return to play at 5 p.m. Thursday on the road against Iberia.
