Prep Baseball: Blair Oaks goes 0-2 vs. Springfield Catholic, Logan-Rogersville

OZARK -- The Blair Oaks Falcons dropped a pair of games to state-ranked opponents Saturday, losing 5-4 to Springfield Catholic and 3-0 to Logan-Rogersville at U.S. Ballpark.

Springfield Catholic (2-0) is ranked No. 5 in Class 4, while Logan-Rogersville (3-0) is No. 2 in Class 4. Blair Oaks is receiving votes in Class 4.

Springfield Catholic scored four runs in the bottom of the first inning against Blair Oaks, but the Falcons tied the score on a bases-clearing triple into right field by Aiden Boeckmann in the second inning.

Blair Oaks tied the game at 5 on an RBI single by Holden Brand, but the Fightin’ Irish scored the go-ahead run in the sixth inning on a two-out single.

Nolan Laughlin scored on a wild pitch in the top of the first inning to give the Falcons a 1-0 lead.

Boeckmann had two of Blair Oaks’ five hits. Wil Libbert also finished with a double.

Chase Schnieders and Tyler Doman each pitched three innings for the Falcons. Schnieders finished with one walk and five strikeouts and Doman struck out two batters.

In Game 2, Logan-Rogersville’s Ross Lawrence and Curry Sutherland combined to pitch a no-hitter against Blair Oaks. Lawrence struck out nine and walked one in five innings, while Sutherland struck out all six batters he faced.

Libbert, the Falcons’ only batter to reach base, drew a two-out walk in the first inning.

Sutherland hit an inside-the-park home run in the first inning for the Wildcats, then added an RBI triple in the fifth inning.

Harrison Lear pitched five innings for the Falcons, giving up three runs on five hits with three strikeouts and one walk. Holden Brand pitched the sixth inning, striking out two.

Blair Oaks (0-4) plays Tuesday at Class 4 No. 1 Southern Boone (4-0).
