The Jefferson City area boasted two co-players of the year and one coach of the year from the Missouri Basketball Coaches Association, which announced its 2022-23 all-state teams Wednesday.

Jefferson City senior Hannah Linthacum was named the Class 5 girls co-player of the year, Tipton senior Myra Claas was named the Class 2 girls co-player of the year and Tipton coach Jason Culpepper was named the Class 2 girls coach of the year.

Linthacum, who has signed to play next season at Missouri, shared the Class 5 girls honor with Carl Junction’s Destiny Buerge. Linthacum, a two-time all-state honoree, helped the Lady Jays to a 21-8 record and their fifth district championship in the past seven seasons.

In addition to making the all-state team, Linthacum was one of eight finalists for the 2022-23 Miss Show-Me Basketball award. Grain Valley senior Grace Slaughter, who will be Linthacum’s teammate next season at Missouri, received the honor.

Claas, who will play basketball next season at Lincoln University, shared the Class 2 girls honor with Ellington’s Kaylee King. Claas is a four-time all-state honoree, leading the Lady Cardinals to the Final Four in three of those four seasons, and guided Tipton to a 31-1 record this season and its first state championship in program history.

Tipton had a total of three all-state honorees, as senior Briar Cox and sophomore Charlee Bailey joined Claas on the Class 2 girls team. Cox, who signed with State Fair Community College, became a two-time all-state honoree, while Bailey made the all-state team for the first time.

Culpepper earned his first coach of the year honor from the MBCA. He surpassed 250 career wins this season and has guided the Lady Cardinals to a 55-game win streak in Kaysinger Conference play.

Nine additional area players received all-state honors from the MBCA.

Helias junior Adalyn Koelling made the Class 5 girls team, her second straight season earning all-state honors. Koelling helped the Lady Crusaders to a 21-7 record and a district runner-up finish.

Jefferson City sophomore Jordan Martin earned his first career all-state honor on the Class 5 boys team. Martin helped the Jays to a 24-8 record and a third-place finish in the state, as they reached the Final Four for the first time since 2004.

Fatima senior Nate Brandt made the Class 4 boys team for his first all-state recognition. Brandt, a Columbia College signee, led the Comets to a 21-7 record and a district runner-up finish.

Five area athletes made the Class 4 girls all-state team.

• Southern Boone senior Emilee DeHaas and junior Chloe Bukowsky both earned their first career all-state honors. DeHaas and Bukowsky guided the Lady Eagles to a 21-11 record and a fourth-place finish in the state, making their second Final Four appearance in program history.

• California senior Lauren Friedrich made the Class 4 all-state team for a second straight season. Friedrich, a Stephens College signee, led the Lady Pintos to a 22-6 record and a district runner-up finish to Southern Boone.

• Fatima junior Alli Robertson earned her first all-state honor. Robertson guided the Lady Comets to a 22-8 record and their first district championship since 2014.

• Eldon senior Haley Henderson made her first career all-state basketball team. Henderson helped the Lady Mustangs to a 19-10 record and a district runner-up finish to Fatima.

St. Elizabeth senior Jace Kesel made his first all-state basketball team. Kesel helped the Hornets to a 21-11 record, their fifth straight Final Four appearance and a second-place finish in the state.
