A Jefferson City man faces multiple charges for allegedly harassing multiple victims over the course of three months.

Jeffrey Hayes, 35, was charged with one count of first-degree and two counts of second-degree harassment, and one count of second-degree stalking.

A Jefferson City Police Department probable cause statement states Hayes sent messages to several victims between Dec. 24 and March 20 that intimidated and distressed the recipients. Those messages were sent through texts, emails, faxes and other means, the report says. Nearly 30 communications were documented during the period.

Among the recipients was a female who had been in a prior relationship with Hayes. She received multiple threats and Hayes allegedly sent messages to law enforcement groups posing as the victim to incriminate her.

He also allegedly made voice-modulated calls to people who know her and prompted law enforcement to investigate his claims.

Police identified Hayes from the internet address some of the communications were sent from and executed a search warrant Wednesday. They recovered voice-altering equipment and other electronics, as well as a note with the names of the victims on it.

According to the probable cause statement, Hayes allegedly admitted to the harassment and said he felt remorse for the threats. He also confessed to using his computer and equipment in the harassment.
