The Cole County Clerk's office has released the dates on which pre and post-election testing of county voting machines will be conducted.

At 9 a.m. Thursday, election officials will test Cole County's voting machines ahead of the April 4 municipal election, according to a notice from the clerk's office. Residents are welcome to come and watch the testing, which will be done at 311 E. High St., Room 201.

On April 4, the actual day of the election, the random ballot selection for the manual recount process will be held in the same location at 6:30 p.m. Residents are welcome to witness it.

An April 10 meeting following the election will serve two purposes. On that day, post-election testing of the voting machines will occur, as well as a meeting of the verification board. The two processes will take place at 9 a.m. Members of the public are invited to watch these election processes as well.

All of these events are open to the public, however, watchers are not allowed to touch the machines or interfere. All of the election events will take place on the second floor of the Cole County Government Annex, located right next to the county courthouse.
