JC man sentenced for possession of child pornography

March 18, 2023 at 4:00 a.m.

A Jefferson City man was sentenced to five years of supervised probation Wednesday for possessing child pornography.

Bruno Puleo, 20, pleaded guilty to one count of possession of child pornography in December. He will be prohibited from accessing the internet outside of job or educational uses.

Court records state Puleo allegedly possessed the material from February through June 2022.

A probable cause statement from the Boone County Sheriff's Office Cyber Crimes Task Force states it received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children in February.

The complaint was from Verizon, which is a mandatory reporter.

Company officials reported an account Puleo was associated with had been receiving child sexual abuse material. Authorities viewed some of the material, which allegedly showed females ages 8-12 exposing themselves in sexual poses.

The Cole County Sheriff's Department executed a search warrant at Puleo's home on Shamrock Road in June. Puleo allegedly admitted he had "pornography" files on his phone, but wouldn't allow deputies to access them. Several items were seized from the residence that reportedly belonged to Puleo that underwent forensic examination.
