March 8, 2023 at 5:41 p.m.

The News Tribune held an election forum Wednesday evening for Jefferson City Council candidates in contested races on the April 4 ballot.

A video of the forum, which was held at Jefferson City Hall, is archived for playback in the video player on this page or on the City of Jefferson YouTube channel at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NJWr2GlpU9E.

Moderated by News Tribune Editor Gary Castor, the forum posed questions from News Tribune staff and community members to the candidates.

Nine people are pursuing three open City Council seats: David Kemna, Randy Hosleton and Jeff Ahlers are vying for the Ward 1 seat; Aaron Mealy and Edith Vogel are vying for the Ward 2 seat; Scott Spencer and Treaka Young are vying for the Ward 3 seat; and Mark Schwartz and Alicia Edwards are vying for the Ward 5 seat. Councilman Derrick Spicer is running unopposed for Ward 4.
