Jefferson City School District sets bond issue meeting

The Jefferson City School District will host a community meeting for its April bond issue Thursday.

The "Kids FIRST" bond issue will build an early childhood center, upgrade technology for preschool through eighth grade classrooms, renovate the middle schools, expand Nichols Career Center's building and course offerings, and replace sound and lighting at the Miller Performing Arts Center, among other things.

It is a zero-tax-rate-increase bond issue. It will go to voters April 4, along with five school board candidates vying for three available seats.

The Thursday meeting will include a presentation and overview of the bond issue at 5 p.m. before the regular board meeting at 6 p.m. at 204 Dix Road, according to the district website and Facebook page.

For those unable to attend, the meeting will be recorded and posted on the district website after the event.
