Helias Catholic senior a National Honor Society Scholarship semifinalist

A Helias Catholic High School senior has been selected as a National Honor Society Scholarship semifinalist.

Danielle Buker has been an NHS member for two years and is one of five students on Helias Catholic's Honor Council. She is also a four-year member of student council. Buker has served as soccer team captain for two years and has earned first team all-conference, first team all-district, academic all-conference and academic all-district honors. She is also a three-time state qualifier for cross country and has earned first team all-conference, first team all-district, academic all-conference, academic all-district and academic all-state honors in cross country and track and field.

Buker is part of Founders Club, Student Ambassadors, Women of Worship, Activities Club, Life Runners and Z-Club, and has served as a Math Lab tutor.

She is a member of the Cathedral of St. Joseph parish.

The NHS scholarship is funded by the NHS parent organization, National Association of Secondary School Principals. Recipients are chosen based on their support of the four pillars of NHS: scholarship, service, leadership and character.
