Election forum for council candidates on tap Wednesday

The News Tribune is holding an election forum Wednesday for Jefferson City Council candidates in contested races on the April 4 ballot.

The forum, scheduled for 6 p.m, will be open to the public at Jefferson City Hall, 320 E. McCarty St. It will also be livestreamed at newstribune.com and the City of Jefferson YouTube channel.

Moderated by News Tribune Editor Gary Castor, the forums will pose questions from News Tribune staff and community members to the candidates.

Readers can submit questions via email to [email protected], and we'll ask the candidates to answer them at the forum or in a future edition of the News Tribune.

Nine people are pursuing three open City Council seats: David Kemna, Randy Hosleton and Jeff Ahlers are vying for the Ward 1 seat; Aaron Mealy and Edith Vogel are vying for the Ward 2 seat; Scott Spencer and Treaka Young are vying for the Ward 3 seat; and Mark Schwartz and Alicia Edwards are vying for the Ward 5 seat. Councilman Derrick Spicer is running unopposed for Ward 4.
