Paris man sentenced for 2021 break-ins

A Paris man was sentenced to 15 days in jail and a restitution fee for a 2021 break-in last month.

Zachary Jennings, 33, pleaded guilty to second-degree property damage for the offense on Feb. 23, court records updated this week show. He was also ordered to pay $3,488 jointly with a co-defendant in the case.

Jennings is believed to have committed as many as 13 break-ins at DeVille Southwest on Southwest Boulevard between March and April 2021, according to Jefferson City Police Department probable cause statements.

Authorities said Jennings broke into washers and dryers while another suspect acted as his lookout. The two are believed to have taken nearly $1,000 from the change receptacles of the machines while causing more than $1,100 in damages to the machines.

The two were caught after they were spotted on security camera footage, authorities said.
