Natalie Grant to headline Redemption Inside the Walls concert; nominees sought for Good Samaritan Awards

Redemption Inside the Walls will bring a "powerful evening of 'Finding Freedom'" at its upcoming concert, featuring Christian/gospel singer Natalie Grant and the Fisher Family Good Samaritan Awards.

The fifth annual Redemption Inside the Walls concert is set for Sept. 23 at the Jefferson City Jaycees Fairgrounds, 1445 Fairgrounds Road. Doors open at 5 p.m.

Grant is a nine-time Grammy nominee and five-time GMA Dove Awards Female Vocalist of the Year. In addition to garnering more than 500 million streams and multiple No. 1 albums and singles on the Billboard Charts, she is also a respected author and philanthropist, according to her website.

The proceeds will benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters of Jefferson City, which "makes meaningful, monitored matches" between adult volunteers and children "as part of the nation's largest donor- and volunteer-supported mentoring network, Big Brothers Big Sisters," according to the organization's website.

Redemption Inside the Walls will also feature the presentation of the five Fisher Family Good Samaritan Awards, which honor community members who go out of their way to help others. The News Tribune is partnering with Redemption Inside the Walls to select the winners, and the News Tribune is seeking nominations for the awards.

You can nominate a Good Samaritan by visiting newstribune.com/goodsamaritanawards.

A Fisher Family Good Samaritan Award recipient should be a person who:

• Lives in Mid-Missouri.

• Does good deeds out of compassion and not because of any hope of reward.

• May shy away from attention about his or her efforts

• Unselfishly helps others and extends mercy, especially to strangers.

• Has not previously been recognized as a Fisher Family Good Samaritan.

When submitting a nomination for the Fisher Family Good Samaritan Award, include the nominee's name, contact information, a 200-word or less description of why that person is a Good Samaritan and a photo of the person, if you have one.

The News Tribune is accepting nominations until 4 p.m. July 26.

Community members then will be able vote for who they think deserves the award. Voting will be open from July 27-Aug. 10 at newstribune.com/goodsamaritanawards.

The News Tribune will select the other four award recipients. All recipients will be invited to the concert, where they will receive their awards.

Anyone who opts into a newsletter when they nominate or vote will be entered into a raffle to win two free tickets to Redemption Inside the Walls. There will be three winners.

Tickets are available for purchase at redemptioninsidethewalls.com.
