The Missouri Tigers have found their big man.
As he had for much of the talent filling the Missouri roster, coach Dennis Gates found an answer in the portal once again, this time bringing in 7-foot 5-inch center Connor Vanover.
Vanover, a former Arkansas Razorback, played last season as a senior at Oral Roberts in Tulsa, Okla. He played in 34 games for Oral Roberts, shooting 51.7 percent from the field and 32.4 percent from 3, while making 81.4 percent of his attempts from the line and bringing down 7.2 rebounds per game and blocking 3.2 shots per contest.
The graduate averaged 12.7 points in his solo season at Oral Roberts for the highest average of his career.
He played in 28 games as a freshman at California before transferring to Arkansas for his sophomore year and sitting out the 2019-20 season due to previous transfer rules. He then played 29 games in his sophomore season at Arkansas, but that number dropped to just 15 games as a junior. His junior season was his lone year shooting under 30 percent from 3 (he shot 7.7 percent) and had his lowest average rebounding total of 2.1.
Vanover announced his commitment Sunday to join the Tigers with posts on Instagram and Twitter. He will have one year of eligibility remaining.
