Post 5 Juniors Auxiliary starts season 3-1

SEDALIA -- The Jefferson City Post 5 Juniors Auxiliary team finished with a 3-1 record this past weekend in the Sedalia Tournament.

On Saturday, Jefferson City began its season with a 5-0 victory against 643 Kansas City White.

Nolan DeMilia pitched a two-hit shutout, striking out 10 batters in seven innings while throwing just 69 pitches.

Colten Scheulen had two of Jefferson City’s five hits.

The Post 5 Juniors Auxiliary won a pair of games Sunday, beating 643 Kansas City Black 8-6 and then topping Oak Grove Post 379 by a score of 15-6.

Jefferson City scored all eight runs in the bottom of the fourth inning against 643 Kansas City Black, highlighted by a two-run single from Riley Schnieders. Jaden Rackers had three of the team’s seven hits.

Carson Rustemeyer was the winning pitcher, striking out seven batters in 4⅔ innings. Hank Stuckenschneider and Bryce Wieberg each added a strikeout in relief.

A seven-run first inning powered the Post 5 Juniors Auxiliary past Oak Grove. Rustemeyer led the offense with two singles and three RBI, Dylan Schwartze had two singles and Stuckenschneider added two RBI.

Wieberg was the winning pitcher, striking out four batters in three innings.

In Monday’s finale, Jefferson City dropped a 12-3 decision to the Sedalia Post 642 Travelers.

Jefferson City led 3-0 after one inning, but Sedalia scored 10 times in the top of the fifth to overcome the early deficit.

Rustemeyer had an RBI double in the first inning and Rackers had Jefferson City’s other hit.

Schnieders finished with four strikeouts in 4⅓ innings on the mound for the Post 5 Juniors Auxiliary.
