Hilarity ensues when a down-on-his-luck producer and his accountant create a scheme to make money by producing the worst show in Broadway history.
What follows will all be revealed in Capital City Production's performance of "The Producers."
"The Producers" is a Mel Brooks classic that is filled with the same type of humor as his other productions, such as "Young Frankenstein," another show CCP has previously produced.
Regular theatergoers may recognize the two leads in "The Producers" from "Young Frankenstein," according to director Sarah Sicht. The "dynamic duo" -- Ben Miller as Max and Michael Brand as Leo -- play the producer and accountant on their journey of seeking out the help of the worst director and choreographer on Broadway to put together the worst show ever.
"They are an amazing pair so it's going to be a great show," Sicht said. "And they're supported by a really strong cast."
A few members of that cast include Alexa Knippenberg as Ulla, Cory White as Roger, Kay Beesley as Carmen and David Goldman as Franz.
People may be familiar with the movie version of "The Producers" that featured Nathan Lane and Matthew Broderick that came out in 2005.
Between the "phenomenal" costuming, choreography and interesting sets, it's sure to be a great show, according to Sicht.
This isn't the first time Sicht has directed at CCP. Beyond assistant directing alongside the creator of CCP, Rob Crouse, Sicht has also directed shows on her own, such as "Freaky Friday" and "SpongeBob, the Broadway Musical."
Michael Brand and Natalie Bassette have teamed up as music directors for "The Producers." Choreographers include Jaelie Bott, Megan Carter, Alexa Knippenberg, LuAnn Madsen, Claire Mengwasser, Kristy Schriefer and Curtis Sudduth. Skylar Nelson is the stage director, with Michael Azar on light design and Missy Newberry on sound design.
