Cold weather won't stop local disc golfers from having fun, as the Fulton Disc Golf Club is preparing to host the annual Ice Bowl event.

The Ice Bowl will be on Feb. 18 at Veterans Park in Fulton. This is the 9th time it has been hosted by the Fulton Disc Golf Club.

This event features two rounds of disc golf play.

Check-in for players will be from 8-9 a.m. The tee time for the first round is set for between 9:30-9:45 a.m. A meeting will be held for all players prior to the first tee time. There will be an hour lunch break after the first round of play.

The event has several divisions for players of all skill levels. The divisons are: mixed pro open, women's pro open, mixed pro 40 plus, mixed amateur one, women's amateur one, mixed amateur 40 plus, mixed amateur 50 plus, mixed amateur two, women's amateur two and mixed amateur three.

The entry fee for all divisions is $25.

Raffle prizes will also be available at the Ice Bowl as a way for the Fulton Disc Golf Club to raise additional funds.

Another big event for the Fulton Disc Golf Club is the annual Summer Showdown usually held in August.

2022's Summer Showdown was the first tournament in Fulton that was sanctioned by the Professional Disc Golf Association. The upcoming Ice Bowl will not be sanctioned.

Proceeds raised from the Ice Bowl event will go towards Our House, a Callaway County based group that aims to "positively promote understanding, respect and housing solutions for the homeless in Callaway County through committed volunteers and staff providing education, advocacy and shelter," according to Our Houses's website.

Our House provides two shelters in Fulton. The Haven House is a transitional shelter for families with children, and the Wiley House is an overnight shelter for adults. During the winter, the group also provides space heaters, warmth bags and emergency housing as possible.
