Girls Basketball: Versailles 42, Belle 26

RUSSELLVILLE -- The Versailles Lady Tigers used a 10-0 run to end the second quarter Saturday to pull away to a 42-26 victory against the Belle Lady Tigers in the third-place game of the Russellville Tournament.

Versailles led 11-7 after one quarter. Belle’s Hali Naber made a 3-pointer in the opening minute of the second quarter to close the lead to one, but Versailles held Belle scoreless the rest of the first half to lead 21-10 at intermission.

Kierra O’Rourke scored Versailles’ final nine points of the first half.

Versailles led 31-19 at the end of three quarters and ended the game on a 7-0 run, as the final score was the team’s largest lead of the game.

Kylee Richey scored a game-high 15 points for second-seeded Versailles and O’Rourke added 14 points, all coming in the first half.

Richey -- a sophomore who recorded her 600th career rebound earlier in the week -- added 12 rebounds for a double-double. Ary Jones grabbed a team-high 15 rebounds for Versailles.

Naber led fifth-seeded Belle (7-14) with 10 points.

O’Rourke and Richey made the all-tournament team for Versailles, while Anastyn Lansford made the all-tournament team for Belle.

Versailles (10-8) returns to Tri-County Conference play Monday at Eldon.
