Fatima announces Homecoming candidates

The Fatima Comets will celebrate Homecoming next week.

"Clash of the Comets" will include the following spirit days: Mathletes vs. Athletes: dress as a nerd or athlete; BBQ Dads vs. Soccer Moms: dress as a stereotypical dad or mom; Morning In vs. Night Out: dress formal or in pajamas; Battle of the Ages: freshman dress as babies, sophomores as teens, juniors as middle-aged and seniors as senior citizens; and Comet Clash: dress in blue or gold.

During spirit week, Homecoming candidates are raising money for Wonderland Camp, an inclusive camp for children, teens and adults with disabilities. The camp has a significant operating budget because of the high costs of utilities, insurance and maintenance, in addition to additional costs caused by COVID-19, inflation, and staffing.

Candidates will collect money each morning for each class, with the final collection Thursday morning. On Friday, the "spirit stick" will be awarded to the class with the most money raised.

Homecoming candidates campaign throughout the week by hanging posters, creating promotional videos and performing skits to persuade students to vote for them. Here are the candidates, along with their campaign managers and friends escorting them.

• Lydia Brunnert, daughter of Joyce and James Brunnert, is managed by Caleigh Huot and Isabella Kremer.

• Sarah Groene, daughter of Amy and Jason Groene, is escorted by Patrick Holterman and managed by Mary Schwartz.

• Corinn Karst, daughter of Melissa and Chad Karst, is escorted by Michael Kloeppel and managed by Zoe Rehagen.
