A Jefferson City man was found guilty of the 2018 shooting death of a Lincoln University student Wednesday.

Alfred Chism Jr. was found guilty of second-degree murder and armed criminal action in the death of 23-year-old Charon Session. A sentencing hearing was scheduled for April 4.

Chism was previously charged with first-degree murder in the incident that took place at a home on Tanya Lynn Drive.

Chism admitted to the killing in 2018, but said it was in self-defense after Session allegedly harassed him. A probable cause statement shows Session was shot twice after Chism opened the door with the gun in his hand, told Session to leave, and then opened fire. Chism subsequently called 911 to report the shooting.
