Missouri women look to return to win column at Georgia

The Missouri Tigers women’s basketball team will start a two-game road trip today when it travels to take on the Georgia Bulldogs.

Game time is 6 p.m. for the Southeastern Conference contest in Athens, Ga. (SEC Network-Plus).

Missouri (14-6 overall, 3-4 SEC) will look to break a four-game losing streak tonight, losing those games by an average of nearly 20 points.

The Tigers played their closest of the four Sunday, falling 68-65 to Tennessee at Mizzou Arena. A 3-pointer by Hayley Frank gave Missouri a 65-60 advantage with a little more than a minute to play before Tennessee rallied for the win.

Frank finished with a season-high 26 points in the game. Jayla Kelly added 14.

Frank leads the Tigers in scoring at 14.5 points per game, while Lauren Hansen is next at 13.6.

Georgia (13-8, 2-5) has lost its last three games, including a 75-73 decision Sunday at Texas A&M.

Diamond Battles led five Bulldogs in double figures with 14 points. 

Audrey Warren and Javyn Nicholson added 13 points each, while Alisha Lewis and Chloe Chapman chipped in with 11.

For the season, Battles (5-foot-8, sr.) is totaling 13.7 points per contest. Brittany Smith (6-3, sr.) is next at 12.2.

Georgia was just 3-of-12 on 3-pointers in the game. The Bulldogs are 11th in the conference in 3-point percentage at 28.7 percent, making an SEC-low 73 this season.

Missouri is third in the conference with 151 made 3-pointers (34.8 percent).

Georgia holds an 11-6 advantage in the all-time series against Missouri, including winning the last three meetings.

Missouri will wrap up the road swing Sunday afternoon with a conference contest at Kentucky.
