ELDON -- The top-seeded Fatima Comets never trailed Tuesday night and ran away with a 72-46 victory against the fifth-seeded Eldon Mustangs in pool play of the Eldon Tournament.
The Comets jumped out to a 24-8 lead after the first quarter, led 42-21 at halftime and stretched their lead to 60-34 after three.
Nate Brandt led the way for Fatima (14-4) with 21 points and Cooper Kleffner added 12.
Hunter Hees finished with a team-high 12 points for Eldon (6-11) and Devin Hardy collected 10.
The Comets, who jumped into the ninth spot of the Class 4 rankings Tuesday, advance to the championship game of the tournament at 7 p.m. Saturday against either Versailles or Eugene, which play each other at 8 p.m. tonight.
Eldon will wrap up pool play at 6 p.m. tonight against School of the Osage.
