Women’s Basketball: Horstman leads Cougars

COLUMBIA -- Columbia College sophomore forward DeLaney Horstman recorded her fifth double-double of the season Saturday, helping the Cougars to a 73-54 victory against the Stephens College Stars.

Horstman had game-highs of 18 points and 11 rebounds, adding five blocked shots. She was 7-of-10 shooting from the floor.

Horstman leads Columbia College with 6.8 rebounds per game and is third on the team with 9.9 points per game.

Sophomore guard Abby Backes (Tipton High School) scored four points for the Cougars. She is fourth on the team with 8.8 points per game and leads the team with 32 made 3-pointers.

Stephens College freshman forward KaLynn Irey (California High School) came off the bench and had two rebounds and one blocked shot for the Stars.

Columbia College (15-4) hosts Lyon College on Thursday.

Stephens College (12-6) plays Wednesday at Hannibal-LaGrange.
