The Orscheln stores were purchased last year by Tractor Supply Company but if there already was a Tractor Supply in close proximity, those Orschelns were sold to Buchheit. The old Orscheln sign was replaced by one advertising the store's new ownership Friday, several months after the transition was announced.

Orscheln in Jefferson City is one of several locations obtained by the Buchheit Family of Companies amid Tractor Supply Company's acquisition of the Orscheln chain, the company announced in October. Tractor Supply was required to divest 12 locations, including the local store, by the federal government as part of the transaction.

Tennessee-based Tractor Supply acquired Orscheln, its 150-store-strong rival in the farming and ranching retail space, for around $297 million. Tractor Supply operates around 2,000 stores across nearly every state.

Buchheit stores feature similar offerings to Orscheln locations: home, garden and farm merchandise. The chain already has several locations in Missouri, and both Orscheln stores in Columbia are among those transitioning to new ownership. It touts itself as a family-owned and operated business since 1934. It offers everything from animal and pet supplies, tools and automotive products to clothing, paint and kitchen fixtures.

The store is located at 2304 Missouri Blvd. and is open from 8 a.m.-8 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Sundays.
