A 21-year-old Russellville man was arrested Friday morning for vandalism in Russellville's downtown area.

The Cole County Sheriff's Department arrested the man at 7:50 a.m. in the 4900 block of Marion Street after receiving multiple complaints about vandalism in the area, according to a sheriff's department news release.

Graffiti was reportedly painted on multiple buildings, including U.S. Postal Service property.

According to the release, the suspect confessed to the offenses during the arrest. The suspect was taken to the Cole County Jail and was charged with first-degree property damage.

First-degree property damage is a Class E felony in Missouri, which means the maximum term of imprisonment is four years or less or a potential fine of up to $10,000 if a suspect is found guilty in court.
