"The Year of the Dog," an award-winning film about about two strays -- a rescue dog and an alcoholic -- will open Friday for a minimum of two weeks at GQT Capital 8 Theaters in Jefferson City.
In honor of Caleb, the pure-bred Siberian Husky who stars in the film, filmmakers are donating 5 percent of its net ticket sales to the Jefferson City Animal Shelter.
Rob Grabow, the film's writer, producer, lead actor and co-director, said the high energy, playfulness and stubbornness that others saw as imperfections in Caleb were what made him the perfect actor to carry the movie.
The "made in Montana film" explores universal themes of alcoholism and recovery, healing through connection, the remarkable love of a dog and the struggle to repair damaged relationships when someone has struck rock bottom.
The film is rated PG-13.
