Voting has begun for the annual Boys and Girls Club Black History Month Art Contest sponsored by UScellular.

Students at the club created original pieces of artwork representing influential Black Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) personalities. The 10 finalists' renditions of Leland Devon Melvin (an engineer and NASA astronaut), Vivien Thomas (a laboratory supervisor who developed a procedure to treat cyanotic heart disease, also known as blue baby syndrome), and Mae Carol Jemison (an engineer, physician and NASA astronaut) are on display at https://uscellular.sjc1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_b6Zs99vNDilky7I

The artwork is also on display at UScellular, 1922 Missouri Blvd.

Club representatives voted on and chose the finalists based on creativity, quality, interpretation, clarity of theme and overall impression.

Community members may go to the site and vote for their favorite piece of art created by the 10 finalists.

Voting remains open until Feb. 28.

The first-place vote-getter will receive a $250 gift card, the second-place vote-getter will receive a $150 gift card and the third-place vote-getter will receive a $100 gift card.

UScellular and the Boys and Girls Club will announce the winners in March.
