YOUR OPINION: Invest in public transit

Sue Gibson, Jefferson City

Dear Editor,

Think about how much more fabulous the new convention center could be if less space were devoted to the parking garage.

Imagine downtown business owners unperturbed by vexing parking problems. Fancy a city with more locally owned restaurants and shops instead of so many car washes, tire stores and parking lots.

Envision a vibrant transit system picking up and dropping off tourists, business commuters who had reading time on the way to work, and shoppers contributing to our economy.

A better world is possible with investment in public transit.
