Jefferson City man charged with assault, making terroristic threat

A Jefferson City man faces multiple charges after allegedly stalking a former partner.

Robert Bargielski was charged in Cole County with first-degree harassment, third-degree making a terroristic threat and fourth-degree domestic assault.

A Jefferson City Police Department probable cause statement said a woman with whom Bargielski was previously romantically involved called in a domestic assault Sunday evening. She said she received a text message threatening her with violence if she didn't leave the company of her friends.

She reported going into the restroom of the business she was in for safety and was allegedly followed in by Bargielski, who tried to pin her against a sink. A witness also in the room reportedly called for help, causing him to flee.

He reportedly headed into the dining area of the restaurant and threatened to shoot several people there before leaving.

While talking to police, the woman reportedly received a call from Bargielski, who apologized for his actions over speaker phone.
