Guilty plea entered in weapons offense incident

A St. Louis man pleaded guilty to reduced charges he faced in connection with a weapons offense that occurred in March in Jefferson City.

During a hearing before Cole County Judge Dan Green, D'Andre Nutall, 22, pleaded guilty to two counts of misdemeanor assault which were amended down from felony charges. He also pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor count of resisting a lawful stop. Nutall was placed on two years unsupervised probation and must not be in possession of a firearm, narcotics or alcohol during his probation.

Another person charged in this case, Malik McGhee-Polson, 20, of Kansas City, is scheduled to have a hearing before Green next month. He is charged with delivery of a controlled substance and resisting arrest.

According to Jefferson City Police Department probable cause statements, officers responded to the 800 block of Stadium Boulevard on March 14 to investigate a disturbance involving a handgun.

Responding officers located two vehicles on the Phillips 66 Convenience Store parking lot consistent with information regarding the disturbance. Officers contacted the occupants of each vehicle in an attempt to locate the subject with the weapon.

In the first vehicle, officers contacted Nutall, who failed to comply with commands to show officers his hands as they believed he was attempting to hide a weapon in the vehicle. Nutall resisted arrest and physically assaulted officers attempting to restrain him. He was taken into custody after the application of "several less lethal force options." After Nutall was taken into custody, a Glock 9mm handgun was recovered in the area where he had been reaching prior to contact.

Additional officers then responded to the lot to assist and contacted the occupants of the second vehicle. During their contact, McGhee-Polson was contacted and detained. He allegedly refused to comply with officer commands and attempted to interfere with the ongoing investigation. After being detained, officers reported they found a leather bag that contained large amounts of individually packaged marijuana and a digital scale in the vehicle.

The Lincoln University Police Department was contacted as to McGhee-Polson was a student at the school. LUPD served a search warrant at the dorm room where McGhee-Polson was staying and allegedly found 236 grams of marijuana.

When questioned, McGhee-Polson reportedly said he knew of the marijuana in the room but said it wasn't his, and he "only got a cut of it."
