Prep Volleyball: Jefferson City 3, Fatima 2

WESTPHALIA -- It was a back-and-forth battle between the Jefferson City Lady Jays and the Fatima Lady Comets on Thursday night, but the Lady Jays walked away with the victory in five sets.

Jefferson City started out strong by winning 25-16 in the first set, but the Lady Comets rebounded to take the second set 25-18 to tie up the match.

The Lady Jays grabbed the third set 25-17. Fatima, once again, responded to tie up the match with a 25-21 fourth-set win.

Jefferson City won the deciding set 15-8.

Hannah Linthacum led the way with 13 kills and five blocks. Nola Borgmeyer finished with nine kills while Hannah Vogt added eight kills and a team-high 26 assists. Elicia Theroff had seven kills and Maddie Mitchell has six kills and 14 assists.

Fatima (6-8-2) will look to rebound Tuesday when it hosts Capital City.

Jefferson City (10-4) will be back in action Tuesday when it travels to play Camdenton in a tripleheader starting at 5 p.m.

The Lady Jays also grabbed a victory in the JV match Thursday, winning 25-21, 25-16 in straight sets. Jefferson City’s JV is now 5-4 on the season.

Fatima won the freshman match 25-15, 25-16. The Lady Jays’ freshman team moves to 5-7 on the year.

Jefferson City’s JV and freshman teams will both be in action Saturday for the Jefferson City JV Tournament. Action will start at 8:30 a.m.
