College Volleyball: Columbia College's Rockers honored by AMC

COLUMBIA -- Columbia College junior outside hitter Ellie Rockers was named the American Midwest Conference volleyball attacker of the week, the league announced Monday.

Rockers (Helias High School) posted a double-double of 13 kills and 17 digs last Friday in the Cougars’ 22-25, 25-20, 25-14, 25-19 win against Ottawa (Kan.).

In the second match of Friday’s doubleheader, Rockers tied for a team-high 11 kills in the Cougars’ 25-23, 25-12, 25-22 upset sweep of then-No. 1 Missouri Baptist.

This is Rockers’ first weekly honor from the AMC since Week 1 of last season.

Through 12 matches this season, Rockers leads the Cougars with 100 kills and is second on the team with 145 digs. She has recorded six double-doubles.

Columbia College (5-7), ranked No. 25 in the NAIA Top 25 poll, plays Friday against Saint Mary (Kan.) and Friends University in the Ottawa Tournament.
